Name: Zoe Ilana Grinfeld

Brand Name: Zoe Ilana Grinfeld

Location: Colchester, Conn.

How would you describe your style aesthetic?

My style aesthetic is very quirky. I am always drawn to the most unconventional fabrics and try to come up with designs that challenge the norm. I started out by making clothing out of recycled materials and have been drawn to unique textures, colors, and patterns ever since.

What inspired you to be a designer?

Design has always been a part of who I am. I was sketching garments before I could write my name and embroidering before I knew how to ride a bike. I had my first fashion show when I was 11, and competed on and won a television competition called “Project Runway: Threads at 15. Now, at 17, I am inspired to make an impact on people through my art and that is what fuels my creativity.

Who is your fashion icon and why?

My fashion icon is Iris Van Herpen. She is a designer who takes a very experimental approach to design and often uses technology to make her work some of the most innovative around.

What celebrity or fictional character would you like to dress and what would you make for them?

I would love to dress Emma Stone. Her style is so fun. I’d love to put her in something very mismatched and quirky combing a bunch of different textiles into one cohesive piece.
