ORLANDO– On the third night of preliminary competition for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, practicality ruled for Connecticut’s entry in the national scholarship pageant.

After competing in evening gown and Lifestyle and Fitness the previous two nights at the Orange County Convention Center, Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen Samantha Anderson took to the stage for the talent event.

For her entry, Samantha chose to dance a lyrical number to the song “One Moment In Time.”

The dance filled with leaps and turns necessitated that Samantha’s hair stay put. So instead of the ponytail from the previous night, Samantha echoed style icon Audrey Hepburn with a pretty, but functional, top bun.
The bun served its purpose by offering an elegant touch to Samantha when she walked the stage at the end of the night in her teal gown for the announcement of the preliminary winners for Thursday night.

For her dance costume, Samantha chose an all white affair with touches of mesh and free flowing skirt, which added drama to her performance.

The finals for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen will be held Saturday night at 6 p.m. in Orlando. It will be streaming live, for a fee. For details, go to MAOTeen.org
