Neutrals ruled with blues in a close second.

On the third and last night of preliminary competition for Miss America at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, the final group of contestants competed in the Evening Gown and the Lifestyle and Fitness phases. For evening gowns, the contestants worked a lot of whites, off-whites, and silvers.

White also was a popular choice in swimwear as the contestants selected pieces from the official swimwear sponsor, Irene West Swimwear. Black, however, also found its way to more than a handful of the remaining contestants.

When competition wrapped up on Thursday night, the contestants would have two days off to prepare for the finals on Sunday, Sept. 11. Fourteen of the women will be selected to continue on in the competition, which will be broadcast on ABC at 9 p.m.
