Organization collecting used prom dresses and accessories, plus makeup

This prom season, the Connecticut Alliance of Foster & Adoptive Families will give 150 foster and adopted girls statewide a dress of her dreams. In doing so, CAFAF is having the “Avenue of Dreams” Prom Dress, Makeup and Accessory Drive from now until Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

In order to ensure that the event is a success, CAFAF is requesting donations for the Avenue of Dreams Prom Dress, Makeup and Accessory drive 2016-2017. Donation items include new or gently used prom or bridesmaid dresses, shoes, accessories and new makeup or body products. We are also seeking service providers from the hair and makeup industries to provide makeovers during the event. Donations can be dropped off at the CAFAF office located at 2189 Silas Deane Highway Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or by contacting the outreach coordinator and arranging for pick-up. For more information please call Catherine Rose, Outreach Coordinator at 860-258-3400 or visit the organizations’ website at www.cafafct.org.

Connecticut Alliance of Foster and Adoptive Families is a statewide nonprofit organization providing training, advocacy, and support services to foster and adoptive parents in Connecticut. Each year, CAFAF hosts the “Avenue of Dreams,” where foster and adopted teen girls can enjoy a prom inspired day with their foster, adoptive or legal moms. The girls are provided with free makeovers and select from an array of dresses, shoes and accessories. Also, the girls attend a motivational workshop about fulfilling their dreams. At the end of the event, each girl receives a portrait, taken by a professional photographer and a gift bag filled with new makeup, hair and body products.
