Beauty brand helping the bees

The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of the Interior have designated June 19-25, 2017 as “National Pollinator Week” to address the issue of declining pollinator populations. In honor of the celebration, Dickinson Brands Inc., the world’s leading distributor of Witch Hazel-based beauty and personal care, will donate $1 towards planting pollinator gardens for every new follower of their @DickinsonsWitchHazel Instagram page.

Did you know that in the winter, when all of the flowers have withered away, bees and other pollinators rely on winter-blooming plants like Witch Hazel to gather and store pollen? That pollen is then used during the winter and early spring to feed baby bees. Dickinson’s Pollinator Gardens are designed to include winter, spring and summer blooming plants so pollinators have a year round source of pollen.

In addition to the brand’s donation pledge, starting today, Dickinson’s is encouraging consumers to post images of local wildflowers that support pollinator health, using hashtag #WitchHazelFeedsBees on Instagram for a chance to be randomly selected to receive a Dickinson’s product gift pack and a personal Witch Hazel pollinator garden.
