As an antidote to the ugliness of cancer, the beauty of fashion and the performing arts were showcased in Hartford on Oct. 27.
Do U Have What It Takes 3 Pink & White Affair A Cancer Benefit was held at Capitol Community College in Hartford, Conn. The event featured several live performers, such as Deanna Nelson, author of the book “But Never Hate,” comedian Julius Lopez, singer Vero G, D’Zire Dance Studio of Meriden’s LiL Legacy dancers, and drummer Christian Reid.
On the runway, models wore fashions from local designers: Kids Future Designs; TRJ Collections, Society 21, Greedy Boy, Marion, Shade wear,Lavish, and Fashionable Iris.
A fire alarm sounded midway through the show, forcing a collaboration between Society 21, RBH Designs, and Devox to sit the evening out. Joseph Wade, the force behind Society 21 and “DYHWIT,” said the collaboration is dubbed “Art of Performance.” The line uses recycled and upcycled materials as well as original artists prints.
The evening was a fund raiser to fight breast cancer and a tribute to Wade’s mother who died from cancer.

Additional funds from the event also supported the Capital M.A.L.E.S. (Achieving Leadership Excellence and Success) mentoring.

This was what was seen at Capitol Community College in the Insurance City.
