Brides shop with great care for their bridal gowns prior to saying “Yes to the Dress.” But to help that dress shine, hair and makeup should be on point and on style.

Several students at the International Institute of Cosmetology on Whiting Street in Plainville (International Institute of Cosmetology) demonstrated and spoke about some of the looks they see for brides tying the knot in 2018.

For the look she created for model Ava Onofreo of Wolcott, Conn., makeup artist student Kasia Szeweczk said she wanted to create something that a bride could wear all-day, all-night, and that would look great for photographs the whole day long. With this particular model, Szeweczk said she wanted something more natural but that would compliment the model’s features. Around Onofreo’s blue eyes, Szeweczk said she chose red tones to compliment those natural colors.

With the hair on the model, hair stylist student Hannah Oakes said, “We decided to go with more of a boho look, which is becoming very popular.”

Emily Webster, Oakes’s partner on hair, said the idea was have a loosely constructed up-do that was amplified by the model’s natural texture.

“Brides are looking for not only a more natural makeup look but for natural hair,” said Webster.
