The question in central Connecticut fashion circles has been, will Hartford Fashion Week happen and when will it happen.

Finally, the questions are being answered by Katrina Orsini, the executive director and mastermind behind Hartford Fashion Week.

“Applications for designers open this week,” said Orsini in an email interview.

“They are a bit different than usual, to reflect our new mission statement,” said Orsini. “We want to know what format each designer feels would allow them to thrive most– i.e. if they do not want to do a runway.”

Also, Orsini said, “We also are asking each for an artist statement– asking how they are using fashion as a medium to deliver a message.”

As for the models out there looking for a chance to participate in the third installment of HFW, Orsini said, “If designers do need models, we will be hosting a model call as usual.”

The previous two years of Hartford Fashion Week were held in Union Station in Hartford. For number three, Orsini said, “We do have multiple locations, and dates on hold. However we are waiting to announce them with the designers.

“I can tell you (the shows) will be in April.”
