Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen is hosting a masquerade ball and she’s offering up an invitation.

Waterbury’s Brooke Cyr, the reigning Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen, is continuing the tradition set by her predecessor, Samantha Anderson by holding a Masquerade Ball to raise funds for her successor.

The next Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen will be crowned in June.

This year’s ball will be held March 29 in Bristol.

“Before last year,” said Cyr in an email interview, “it had been a few years since the Miss Connecticut organization had a Masquerade Ball.”

“The Miss Connecticut Outstanding Teen before me, Samantha Anderson, resurrected the idea of the ball, and she started the tradition of giving the profits to the next Teen winner,” explained Cyr.

“I was unable to go to the ball last year because I was in the hospital, and when Sami presented me with the money after I won, it was the best surprise,” said Cyr. “The money was very helpful, especially with my wardrobe when preparing for nationals.

“Ever since then, I’ve been excited about having my own Masquerade Ball,” said Cyr, a student at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury. “I’ve never been to one, and I picture it to be like a fairy tale, with everyone dressed formally, but differently.”

“I see gowns, cocktail dresses, rompers, jumpsuits, and anything elegant that suits their personalities,” said Cyr of her guests. “I also picture everyone in black or a color that complements black, so it looks like everything is coordinated.”

The event is a few weeks off and already, said Cyr, “We’ve been planning it for months, and I know people will have a great time.

In addition to the elegant attire and masks, Cyr said, “My brother’s band 3G will be playing while people dance all night, and we’ve got great food with menu options designed not to spill on the dresses.”

“We know how much everyone loves to take pictures, and we’re even setting up a special area with a backdrop and props,” said Cyr.

“The ball is for everyone associated with the Miss Connecticut organization, including their friends, family members, and sponsors,” said Cyr.

Miss Connecticut’s Outstanding Teen’s Masquerade Ball will be at Nuchie’s, 164 Central St., Bristol on Thursday, March 29 at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $35. For tickets, email missctotbusinessmanager@missct.org.
