Richy Rich clothing can trace its roots to Nigeria.
Nigeria is a diverse country with over 500 different language and a cultural division equal parts Christian and Muslim.
And with that knowledge, you can definitely see that the garments from Richy Rich that made their way down the NYSFE runway at Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City reflected the country’s diverse roots.
You can see it in the silhouettes that reflect the country’s different flavors. You can see it in the clothing’s roots that remind you of classic garments in the Muslim and Christian worlds. And you can see it in the colorful prints had a taste of Africa.
But you also can recognize Rich’s contemporary flair—likely born by its current residence in New York City.
The collection reminded me of a technicolor movie borne by Nigerian film makers with a tale that reflected the Nigerian experience in a modern age.
