Cosmetology students set to graduate Oct. 14; ceremony to feature fashion show

CORRECTED OCT 10:

On Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville, the International Institute of Cosmetology will host its 15th graduation ceremony for over 100 graduates for cosmetology, aesthetics and makeup.

This year IIC will be featuring a runway fashion show by Sebastian’s International Artists Omar Antonio and Nato Vandine.

Press materials from IIC said, “San Francisco native Omar Antonio has always been a creative mind. From a young age he has always excelled at drawing, sewing, sketching, painting, dancing, and having his own unique style. It is not hard to see how Omar incorporates all of those talents into the artistry of hair design.”

“In Omar’s own words, ‘Hair is just hair but as an artist I can create a mood, a feeling, an actual real life emotion. That realization excites me, intrigues, me, pushes me. It makes me long to be an inspiration to other artist. I am an artist before anything else – I am an artist that just happens to do hair.’”

The annual production showcases and celebrates the graduates’ advancement in the beauty industry.

One of the graduates that will be taking the stage on Oct. 22 is Ashley Snelling of Coventry, Conn.. Ashley visited IIC at the end of her junior year of high school and decided to apply to the cosmetology program. Since attending IIC she has excelled in all aspects of her education and has taken IIC’s Advanced Academy classes.

As she finishes up her last weeks of school, in the press release, Ashley reflected back on her decision to attend IIC. “It’s a fast paced environment that allows you to be creative. Because we didn’t go to another school, we don’t see how great this school is.”

The International Institute of Cosmetology is an accredited, family owned and operated cosmetology school with campuses in Wethersfield and Plainville Connecticut.
