Getting beautiful in the great outdoors

In a switch, rather than crowding models, makeup artists, and hairstylists in a tight backroom, hidden away from the crowds, a twist of fate found the merry band of creatives for New England Fashion Week whisked off to a public park in Glastonbury, Conn.

Stationed beneath a gazebo, with the sun shining and a light breeze in the air, hair curlers were plugged into the stray outlets at the perimeter of the wooden structure and makeup artists used the diffused spring sunlight to do their thing. Models waiting their turn or who completed their transformation either sat in the sun beyond the gazebo or stationed themselves on empty seats left under the shelter.

When all was ready at the Maharaja Banquet Hall in downtown Glastonbury, the models made their pilgrimage to the runway and began the process of dressing for the guest coming to this fundraiser for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
