A woman from Farmington and a teen from Hartford won their respective crowns at the Miss Connecticut USA and Miss Connecticut Teen USA pageant on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Chelsea Demby was selected to succeed Acacia Courtney as the newest Miss Connecticut USA at the Stamford Marriott.
Samantha Sarelli was selected as the new Miss Connecticut USA. She succeeds Kaliegh Garris, who went on to win the Miss Teen USA crown.
Demby, who was one of 15 women vying for the Miss Connecticut USA crown, competed in an off-stage interview with judges, swimsuit, and evening gown categories. As a top 5 finalist, Demby also participated in an onstage interview.
Sarelli, who had been a second runner-up in last year’s pageant, was one of eight girls vying for the teen title. She competed in similar categories as the Miss contestants except swimsuits were swapped out with athletic wear.
Demby and Sarelli were selected following a preliminary competition in the afternoon. The finals were then held in the evening.
Demby now goes on to the Miss USA competition on a date yet to be announced by the Miss Universe organization. The current Miss USA is Cheslie Kryst.
Sarelli will compete for Miss Teen USA, looking to succeed the young woman who crowned her, Kaliegh Garris. The date for that contest also has not been announced.
