The Hollywood bombshell goddesses of Marilyn Monroe, Twiggy, and Brigitte Bardot were looking over the collective hair and makeup shoulders of Bill Schrlau’s team when he turned this concept into reality.
“Our goal was to create a beauty icon series inspired through texture,” said Schrlau. In the hair, he said he worked with natural soft textures. Textured hair continues to be a dominant look as evidenced by the shows in this past fashion week season, said Schrlau.
In his concept, Schrlau teamed the hair with a “fresh but something bold” makeup look, carried out by Nicole Rogers, using inspiration from the photography of Helmut Lang and the makeup work of Susie Sobol. This meant providing models with a sharp cat-eye and glowing skin.
To recreate the hair textures on your own, Schrlau said:
Apply a foam volumizer to dry hair, mid lengths and ends
Use your dryer to dry the product into the hair
Curl the hair in half-inch square sections with a large iron by wrapping the hair lengths around the iron at an angle.
Using a crème texturizer on your hands run through the curl to soften and finish your texture.
