Two Connecticut women are continuing their reality television adventures in a new series on TLC “Darcey and Stacey,” which also is filmed in the Nutmeg state.
Press materials from TLC explain the premise of the show as: “Twins Darcey and Stacey (Silva) do everything together — they got married at the same age, divorced on the same day and more. This is about to change, however, as Darcey tries to move past her toxic relationships and Stacey’s Albanian fiancé heads to America.” In the show’s primary story line, Stacey Silva has 90 days to get married to Florian Sukaj or he must return to Albania.
The show, which debuted in August and is aired Sundays at 10 p.m., is already a big hit. The debut pulled in 2.1 mllion viewers. The second episode was the fifth most watched original cable telecast program on that particular Sunday night,
The two sisters are residents of Middletown, Conn. and their hometown figures prominently in the plot.
“Home is where the heart is,” said Darcey Silva about being able to set the new show in the Constitution State. “Connecticut is always a strong base, we have a purpose and this is where we have built our roots.”
“It will always be home no matter where we are,” said Stacey Silva. “We feel proud to be from Connecticut and everything Connecticut has to offer.”
The two sisters, who also the brains behind fashion line House of Eleven, already had been cast members of TLC’s “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days” before becoming the focus of their own show.
Compared to “90 Day Fiance,” Stacy Silva said “Darcey & Stacey” is “more of deeper look into my personal journey with Florian.”
“It’s been a journey and Stacey knows,” said Darcey Silva of the opportunity to bring the sisters’ story to reality television in both shows “Regardless of the ups and downs, we rise above and have each other’s back in the end.”
“We hope to be inspiring to other siblings, families and couples (and show them) how to make (a relationship) last,” said Darcey Silva.
In the show, the two sisters include their family in their televised journey. Their children and parents are part of the story and help viewers understand the sisters.
“It’s a new raw real look at our twin dynamic,” said Darcey Silva “The inside view of us, our family and our love lives.
As the show unfolds, Darcey Silva said, “We hope the viewers understand so we can love our lives selflessly and hope to inspire others in the end. We are relatable and that matters to us.”
“Everyone faces challenges in life, just listen to your gut and don’t let others project what’s right for you! Have no fear and live life in the moment, and never give up on love,” said Stacey Silva.
In the course of recording the show, the sisters said they have grown as human beings.
Stacey said, “I am stronger and more empowered. I hold my head up high no matter what I face in life.”
“We will always stay ‘Silva Strong,'” said Darcey. “It’s a positive mindset. When we think positive thoughts they come true! Just like anyone else.”
Heading into “Darcey & Stacey,” and with the experience of “90 Day Fiance” behind them, the two sisters had clearly established a fan base. On Instagram, Darcey Silva has 981,000 followers; Stacey Silva has 221,000 followers.
Stacey Silva added, “It’s such a blessing to have people to support our journey and we love and appreciate every one of our fans.”
