Rhasheed Gavin has trained to be the person you turn to stand behind the camera. But lately, Rhasheed has found that he’s excited about being in front of the camera.
“I graduated from Temple University (in Philadelphia) with my degree in film and media arts and originally began my career working behind the camera,” said Rhasheed. “Although I love being behind the camera, my love for acting and being in front of the camera has grown immensely over the past few years.”
Now working as a model– and a recent winner of the Magnifique Showcase organized by former “America’s Next Top Model” contestant Victoria Henley– Rhasheed said, “I mainly shoot fashion and urban wear, but I am open to creative projects like body paint, swimwear and formal wear.”
“I was both blessed and fortunate to walk in Victoria Henley’s Magnifique Winter Showcase and have an international photoshoot in Costa Rica,” said Rhasheed.
Rhasheed said he has a unique take on style.
“As a young kid from Harlem and growing up in Queens, N.Y., I’ve developed a unique flare and heartfelt passion for fashion,” said the model. “A blend of urban apparel intertwined with a business casual uniformity has inspired my sense of fashion and look.”
Rhasheed has not given up working behind the camera, even though he feels modeling and acting is his calling. He also is a video editor, director and content creator.
But, no matter what he does for a living, Rhasheed said, “My hope is that my children will look up to me and understand that it is not where you come from that makes you, it is your vision and ambition that sets you apart from others.”
