Starring master illusionist Jason Hudy, who has gained notoriety performing over 8,000 shows globally for a myriad of top clients and now enjoys a resident show at the acclaimed Mountain of Entertainment Theater in Pigeon Forge, “Illusionation: The Magic of Jason Hudy” is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat with both grand scale illusions and sleight of hand performances.
Perfectly suited for kids and kids at heart alike, this nearly two hour magic spectacular kicks off with a spellbinding entrance by Hudy that you truly must see in order to believe, followed by a brief introduction of the magician, who was ardently supported and encouraged in his career of choice by his parents as well as his childhood mentor, Ming the Magnificent.
Jill Terry, principal female cast member astounds the audience with a stunning performance where she wields glow -stick like apparatuses in perfect rhythm, spelling out a variety of words and images.
Semyon Grusdev entertains and brings comic relief as one of the show’s premier variety acts, stealing the spotlight with his wacky, zany antics, and pantomiming abilities.
Perhaps one of the most beloved elements of the Illusionation experience is the audience interaction, as Hudy is known to summon audience members of all ages to join him on stage during the show for a myriad of bits including a magical coloring book that features pages that vanish then subsequently reappear right before the audience’s very eyes , numerous up close and personal card tricks, and a fun and light hearted segment with “Pierre” the balloon animal, which the young lady volunteering on the day of our attendance was allowed to keep, much to her delight.
Hudy and Terry take the stage together numerous times throughout the show, showcasing their great chemistry as respective magician and assistant as they present two stacks of blocks that magically appear in predicted order after being briefly covered by sheaths, as well as a mind boggling bit with wine bottles and assorted glasses miraculously switching places with one another, in real time.
“Illusionation: The Magic of Jason Hudy” provides guests with in depth insights into the mystifying history of magic including the legendary P. T. Selbit’s world famous inventions and feats of magic, including the illusion of “sawing a woman in half,” an act that the titular leading man and his trusty side kick Terry carry out seamlessly. Additional stand out moments include a segment in which Terry steps into a painted box , which is deconstructed by the master magician, while her head and various limbs are still visible in the unimaginably tiny boxes.
The “Rainmaker” is always a crowd favorite featuring a cloaked Hudy drinking from bowls of water that seem to indescribably fill up from thin air.
Special thanks to Hugh Warren, Tennille McElroy, Jason Hudy, and the entire Illusionation and Mountain of Emtertainment Team for arranging our visit for this spotlight feature!
