Backstage Pass: Model Victoria Elizabeth experiences a ‘Nightmare’ in Ga.

By VICTORIA ELIZABETH

Nestled away within the woods in the quaint, quiet, notoriously haunted town of Warm Springs, Ga lays Georgia’s premiere seasonal haunted attraction, Nightmare on 190.

This limited time event, taking place on Friday and Saturday nights in October from 7:30-11 p.m. is currently celebrating its fifth season of operation, a season which is already being heralded by visitors and media outlets alike as the biggest and best event yet.

Designed by creative masterminds, Marty Spells and Matt Roach , who have a well-honed penchant for the horror aesthetic, Nightmare on 190 was officially started in 2019 after the two experienced a wildly successful run on a well-known haunted trail attraction in Valdosta, Ga.

Determined to explore their unbridled creativity for a truly outlandish and unhinged haunted experience, the two spook enthusiasts came across a building which the state no longer used regularly, secluded in the deep, dark backwoods of Pine Mountain. The eerie building in the middle of nowhere down highway 190 had many “ghost stories” told of it, from the time it was in use, deep down to the land on which it sits.

The Nightmare on 190 creators –as well as some of the set curators and actors — can supply ample stories regarding various paranormal experiences that took place during set up of the attraction, including dark shadows, temperature changes, and eerie noises.

The 2025 Nightmare on 190 Experience is truly larger than life featuring a staggering 50 actors, state of the art animatronics, bone-chilling sound effects, blood-curdling screams and hair-raising jump scares that have made even some of the bravest souls “tap out” early.

Our journey began with a private tour beginning with an up-close and personal encounter with a towering, ominous “Pig Man” (donning overalls and a terrifying mangled pig mask.)

We wound our way down a dark, creepy corridor, through the vast expanses of the haunted house, passing flickering lights, hazy smoke, decaying corpses and spooky skeletons along the way.

A few of the notable, standout characters you can expect to see during your experience are Michael Meyers, Ghostface from the mega-movie franchise “Scream,” Freddy Krueger, the antagonist from “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” Jason from “Friday the 13th,” and many much more.

Expertly curated, highly original scenes, include a flesh-eating zombie, whose victim is out for fresh blood, possessed clowns in a circus-themed room, clanging cymbals and invading every inch of your personal space (just a reminder: this is a contact-free haunted house. Don’t touch them and they won’t touch you!), and “The Exorcist” -style figure laying on a bed that appears to be a lifeless porcelain doll…until you realize that she isn’t.

Perhaps one of the most truly jarring and adrenaline-pumping portions of the Nightmare on 190 experience is the “Killing Field” where a guide, displaying eerily faux niceties, welcomes guests, tells them to be safe and watch their step, before directing the unwitting “victims” out into an open field, where neon-masked, chainsaw-wielding mad men, terrorize and chase, getting dangerously close with the perilous chainsaw blades, as the ominous deep growls of the chainsaws at full throttle fill the night air.

Featuring one terrifying fright following another with nary a break in between, this exceptionally designed haunted experience is sure to keep you gasping for air and in full-force fight or flight mode throughout the entirety of the tour. Come see for yourself why horror enthusiasts from across the US are deeming Nightmare on 190 as the most truly terrifying haunted spectacular in the state of Georgia.

Special thanks to Marty, Matt, and the entirety of the hardworking Nightmare on 190 cast for having us back!
