The new Miss Connecticut Volunteer Gia Iwanec has been competing in pageants since she was 5 years old. Now, the 21-year-old Quinnipiac University graduate gets to compete at Miss Volunteer America to represent her home state.
An intimate crowning ceremony was held Wednesday, Aug. 27 at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford.
