The big day is drawing near for Miss Connecticut Volunteer Serena Charbonneau of Wolcott, Conn.
She leaves for Jackson, Tenn. on June 14 to participate in the Miss Volunteer America national competition.
The competition itself, which will be held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center, takes the stage with preliminary judging on June 18, 19, 20. Charbonneau takes part in a different phase of competition each night — beginning with talent on Wednesday, then fitness and wellness, and finally evening gown.
Charbonneau’s work for the crown actually begins behind the scenes with a private interview with judges on June 17.
The final competition will be held June 21.

Miss Volunteer America will be livestreamed for those who can’t make it to Tennessee, but details have not been announced on that option.
