Miya Ko Nes (www.miyakones.com) joined the fashion parade at “Mosaic,” the fashion show mounted by Maison at Yale

The runway show was held at Tsai City inside the Yale University campus in New Haven on Sunday, April 13.

Miya, the designer, explained Miya Ko Nes “is a Canadian ready-to-wear brand that thrives on the tension between the avant-garde and the accessible. The process starts with uninhibited creativity—embracing bold, couture-like concepts that might seem unwearable at first. Then, through a thoughtful refinement process, these grand ideas are distilled into functional, wearable pieces that still push boundaries and provoke thought. It’s about finding a balance where innovation meets practicality, ensuring that the designs are not only progressive and edgy but also grounded enough to be worn in everyday life. This approach reflects a commitment to challenging conventions while making sure the end product remains wearable and relatable.”

For the Maison at Yale, Miya explained the brand “debuted with two looks featuring fpir products.”

There was the “Edo Catsuit.” Miya explained it was a “black mesh and velvet catsuit with an asymmetrical side cut and long back zipper. (It) features sleeves with thumbholes and legs that extend halfway down the feet, securing around the midfoot.”

There also was the “Batman Bustier.” It was a “strapless suede bustier with standing front and back straps. (It was) supported by a side zipper and adjustable straps that wrap around gold buttons.”

Then there was the “Batman Skirt.” Miya said it was a “denim skirt featuring standing waist flaps and built-in structure with boning. (It was) designed with an underskirt and two invisible zippers for a tailored fit at the waist.”

Maison at Yale is a fashion and art collective at the Ivy League school in Connecticut.
