Since its inception in 1993, The Alabama Theatre in Myrtle Beach, S.C. has brought world class variety entertainment spanning a staggering array of genres, as well as a plethora of household-name touring artists to the city.

One of the area’s top destinations for quality family entertainment, the Alabama Theatre attracts legions of fans and visitors annually from around the globe, and has garnered attention from an impressive array of media outlets including the CBS Morning Show, CMT and TNN.

The theater keeps its format fresh and exciting with an exhilarating line up of guest performers; however, it’s resident production, One the Show, is the theater’s primary draw. It blends elements of pop, rock, country, jazz and Broadway, teamed with superbly choreographed dance routines, to create a one-of-a-kind knock out two-hour extravaganza that you won’t find anywhere else.

Featuring a supremely talented cast of classically trained and remarkably seasoned vocalists, dancers and comics, One the Show is sure to offer something to intrigue, excite, and engage everyone in your group.

Filled to the brim with state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, Hollywood film set-worthy stage production design and dazzling costumes, One the Show spotlights the vocal talents of its principal singers through a variety of classic and internationally recognized numbers, including a jazzy duet rendition of “The Lady is a Tramp” by Frank Sinatra, a jaw-dropping tribute to “The Lion King” that features custom-made outfits and acrobatic dance moves that truly steal the show, as well as an ode to the smash 2017 biographical movie musical hit based upon the life and career of the illustrious P.T Barnum, “The Greatest Showman.”

Fans of the bluegrass genre will certainly appreciate the numerous instrumental performances, executed with great precision and aplomb by the talented One the Show principal musicians, including the beloved 1965 hit, “Orange Blossom Special” as well as other traditional bluegrass and country classics, sure to transport you back to a simpler and more peaceful time.

Additional standout numbers that are sure to remain embedded in your mind long after you’ve left the theater are a stirring solo rendition of the hopeful, dramatic ballad “Somewhere” (from the acclaimed Broadway production “West Side Story”), as well as a relentlessly upbeat, high octane nod to “Aladdin,” blending a medley of hits, including a toe-tapping rendition of “Never Had a Friend Like Me”, reminding audiences just why Aladdin is one of the most popular and longest running musicals to hit the Broadway circuit.

No variety show would be complete without comic relief, and renowned juggler/comedian “Slim Chance” (portrayed by David J. Hirschi) provides a laugh- a-minute routine, combining outstanding juggling skills, razor sharp wit and even ventriloquism, during his numerous appearances throughout the show. Inimitably plucky and undeniably entertaining, Slim Chance speaks in a goofy, jovial and comedic tone, maintaining a remarkably calm presence as he juggles unconventional and unusual items including a bowling ball and a rubber chicken, along with traditional juggler’s clubs. The ventriloquism act, featuring an exotic tropical Spanish bird, also features a unique blend of jokes, interactivity, and songs that causes side splitting laughter among the crowd during the evening of our visit.

One the Show at the Alabama Theatre allows guests to experience breathtaking Broadway theatrics, chart topping country and pop classics, and award-winning juggling skills all under one roof. It’s an experience you won’t find anywhere else in Myrtle Beach.

THE EDWARDS TWINS

The Edwards Twins, a pair of Las Vegas-based celebrity tribute artists and impressionists, who have garnered worldwide praise and rave reviews from top media outlets worldwide.

Born and raised in Burbank Calif., The twins, Eddie and Anthony, were both fascinated and entranced by celebrities at a very early age, sneaking in to the famous NBC TV studios in Burbank, where they would watch their favorite television programs being filmed.

The Edwards Twins began performing together at a variety of venues, slowly and steadily gaining notoriety as tour de forces of the tribute artist genre. Soon, the Edwards Twins achieved the recognition as being the top celebrity tribute artists in Las Vegas, achieving approval and endorsement from a large percentage of the very celebrities to whom they pay homage in their critically acclaimed two hour extravaganza.

One of the many elements that makes their tribute show at the Alabama Theatre so incredibly unique is that while most traditional “drag” shows feature lip syncing to pre-recorded tracks, The Edward Twins sing all of the musical numbers throughout the show, from grumbling low baritone notes to impossibly high falsetto vocal runs.

Engaging, upbeat, and brimming with palpable energy and enthusiasm, The Edwards Twins keep audiences delighted and entranced with their effortlessly lovable personalities and stage personas. During the enchanting evening we spent at their show, we witnessed breathtaking transformations into larger than life musicians including Cher, Barbara Streisand, and Celine Dione, just to name a few (Eddie Edwards impersonates the female celebrities). Anthony Edwards offers his takes on male performers like Billy Joel, Sonny Bono and Andrea Bocelli.

The Edwards Twins encapsulate the very essence of the celebrities to whom they pay tribute, exquisitely nailing every single nuance, vocally, tonally, and aesthetically.

Some of the stand out and show stopping numbers at this show include “My Heart Will Go On” (the defining ballad by Celine Dion from the iconic film “Titanic”), “If I Could Turn Back Time” by Cher, “I Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher, “Piano Man” by Billy Joel, and an emotionally charged rendition of the Tony Award Winning ballad from “Kinky Boots,” “Not My Father’s Son.”

Vocal acrobatics, wildly impressive transformative skills and unparalleled showmanship are just a few of the many reasons The Edwards Twins show is a mesmerizing spectacle you absolutely must see!
