Feeling Steampunk at the menagerie

Steampunk events by the nature are gestalt fashion shows.

Most guests take on a different persona to reflect the Steampunk adage of, “What if the future happened yesterday.”

This was the case at the Spruce Street Steampunk Menagerie in Manchester, Conn. on Oct. 22. Fantastical fashions from the Steampunk world walked the halls of Nathan Hale School… along with a few Jedis, Hoovians, and Trekkies.

There was also a Dalek looming over the proceedings.

Creations by Nightwing, however, offered an honest-to-goodness fashion show featuring her garments made of upcycled, repurposed fabrics that were reconstructed in ways the original seamstresses had never expected. Her outfits were accompanied by a line of plushies by Nicki Costello and hats by JW Crafts.
