Lingerie with Connecticut twist

Love was about to be in the air so designer Karlene Lindsay Designs decided the time was right to put lingerie on the hanger.

Lindsay, a Connecticut-based designer, already had carved her niche with gowns and casual wear. But, she explained, with Valentine’s Day coming up this past February, she decided in December 2015 to try her hand at lingerie. With the bridal gown season also coming, Lindsay decided to plunge forward with the concept.

The line is in its infancy, said Lindsay. But her long-term goal is to expand the style offerings and color offerings to the lingerie.

Lingerie, in a way, said Lindsay, is a designer’s respite. Gowns are much more difficult than lingerie, said the designer. Lingerie, she explained, requires less fabric and ultimately less time to go from conception to completion.

Some pieces she has created thus far will appeal to any woman, especially someone who needs a little bit more cover up, said Lindsay. But she also has designed “impy skimpy pieces” for the woman who is more daring.
