Prepping for fashion at Consignment Originals

CTFashionMag.com is preparing for an upcoming fashion editorial.

And for the wardrobe, we turned to Consignment Originals in Cheshire to outfit model Juliette Johnson and budding model Mara DeLuco.

With a concept in mind, we hit the racks to see what treasures we could find that provided the look (and fit) we needed.

We worked the well-organized store, checking out the women’s dresses with Juliette and the children’s department with Mara and her mother Beth. There were plenty of choices. There were plenty of designer styles. And all of the garments we saw were in fine shape, nothing that looked as if it should have been sent to the dumpster.

Consignment shops are like treasure hunts. The thrill lies in filing through the racks to find “the one” and “the one” at a great price.

For this venture, we had in mind a certain look. But as we went from rack to rack the concept evolved as some pieces we loved and some pieces… well maybe they will work for someone and something else.

After an hour of browsing, Juliette and Mara and her mom found armfuls of possibilities and we took them to the dressing rooms.

What looked good on the rack, didn’t always seem right on the models. Sometimes, the fit was wrong. Sometimes, the cut of the garments didn’t look right on the models. Other times, the color—although fine—wasn’t what we needed.

Sometimes, the models loved the piece. Sometimes, they didn’t.

In the end, we left with one outfit each. Outfits that Juliette and Mara loved.

Keep an eye out for what CTFashionMag.com picked and what we do with the dresses.
