Thanks to venues like CBGBs and Max’s Kansas City, New York City gave birth to punk and new wave, which subsequently set a rock and roll fire across the globe.

Although Times Square is a little too glitzy and too commercial than it was in the 1970s, there is still a gritty feeling to the Big Apple that can be evoked with a little bit of punk rock-inspired fashion.

During New York Fashion Week, model Phoenix Teagan Bell offered up a personal interpretation of the styles captured by renowned photographers like Godlis and Bob Gruen, who chronicled the punk and new wave scene of Gotham for posterity.
